Founded in 1956 as a dedicated producer of industrial motors, TECO has diversified, in parallel with Taiwan's economic miracle, to heavy electric equipment, home appliances, information technology, communications, electronics, key components and parts, civil engineering, property management, logistics, and dining and services. As a global conglomerate, TECO's business scope now spans nearly 50 countries in five continents, with over 100 affiliates.
TECO products and services can be found throughout the world, including the world's tallest building BurjKhalifa, Singapore's Merlion, U.S. nuclear submarines, Australia's large mines, Taiwan's high-speed rail stations, Snow Mountain Tunnel, and National Health Insurance IC card, testifying to a deep impact on everyday human life by TECO.
Boosting Industrial Competitiveness with Smart Manufacturing and Systems
In line with the global trend of energy conservation and reducing of the carbon footprint, TECO has been constantly pushing industrial upgrades and productivity enhancements. An example is the "Motor Stator Automated Production Center" in Chungli, Taiwan, Asia's most complete smart industrial motor production line featuring 3D-vision robotic arms, automatic guided vehicles (AGVs), automatic coil winding machines, plus cloud-end smart applications. TECO Wuxi Lamination Center is an automated factory. That Center has been awarded with the LEED Golden Certification for Green Buildings, for implementing renewable energy for stamping iron cores for motor rotors and stators. TECO has been dedicated to the sales of customer-oriented systems, tapping the markets of energy conservation, carbon-emission reduction green products and renewable energy products and developing micro grid and smart energy-management systems, and key component of smart cities. The group has also successfully developed Smart Motor Monitoring System (SMMS), All-Smart Machine Health managing (MHm) Platform, and manufacturing execution systems (MES), making TECO'S line of smart systems service products even more complete.
Global Deployment
Since its inception in Taiwan, TECO Electric & Machinery has targeted globalizing its operations. In 1972, the company set up its first overseas branch, in Singapore, paving the way for it to become the leading industrial-motor brand in Southeast Asia. In 1980, it made forays into the Australian market and then acquired Westinghouse Motor Co., Ltd. in the U.S. in 1995, muscling into the ranks of the world's top-three industrial-motor brands. In 2000, TECO stepped into the mainland Chinese market, building factories there. In 2015, it took over Motovario S.p.A. of Italy, facilitating its penetration of the European market.
With our businesses already covering nearly 50 countries in five continents, we are still probing sales and investment opportunities in emerging markets, including India, Africa, and ASEAN, in order to consolidate our overseas presence and expand our global deployment.
